PENERAPAN METODE KNOW WANT LEARNED UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN SISWA KELAS IV SD NEGERI 138436 TANJUNGBALAI TAHUN PELAJARAN 2017/2018
Abstract
This study aims to determine the improvement in reading skills of students' understanding and learning activities in learning Indonesian after applying the KWL (Know, Want, and Learned) method in the fourth grade of SD Negeri 138436 Tanjungbalai 2017/2018 school year. This research is a classroom action research that is carried out in two cycles with two meetings each cycle. The subjects of the study were fourth grade students of SD Negeri 138436 Tanjungbalai in the year 2017/2018, which amounted to 20 students. Data reading skills were obtained through tests while learning activity data was obtained through observation sheets of student learning activities. The results of the study indicate that; 1) students' reading comprehension skills increase by applying the KWL method in Formative I showing an average of 60 with 40% calcical completeness and Formative II showing an average of 81 with 85% classical completeness or an increase in classical completeness by 45% and achieving success criteria research; 2) student learning activities increase by applying the KWL method in Cycle I writing activity 38%, reading 31%, discussion 21%, asking 5%, and which are not relevant to teaching and learning 5% while in Cycle II activity writes 31%, reads 36 %, 21% discussion, asking 9%, and which is not relevant to 3% teaching and learning activities.
